Body Shop Painter


We are looking for a full-time Body Shop Painter to join our team. The purpose of this role is to prep and paint trucks/trailers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with Estimator, Service Writer and Body Shop Manager to review damage reports, prepare or review repair cost estimates, and plan work to be performed.

  • Responsible for prep, sanding vehicle surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats.

  • Select paint and match colors of paint following specified color charts.

  • Mix paints to match color specifications or vehicles' original colors, then stir and thin the paints, using spatulas or power mixing equipment.

  • Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from vehicle surfaces in preparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters.

  • Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes.

  • Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and decorative or finish coatings.

  • Remove accessories from vehicles, such as chrome or mirrors, and mask other surfaces with tape or paper in order to protect them from paint.

  • Responsible for accurately documenting all work performed and paint, supplies & parts used.

  • Committed to customer satisfaction and repair efficiencies. 

Experience:

  • 1 year of hands-on automotive/commercial paint experience and/or technical school graduate.

  • Experience with Mitchell and or paint software experience is preferred but not required.

  • Must own a basic set of tools.

  • Experience documenting all aspects of the repair and paint process.
