The Facilities Laborer is a facilities supervisor for multiple M&K locations. As such, he/she will be responsible for remodeling, repair, general maintenance, building improvement, and the occasional construction special project. The Facilities Laborer will also manage sub-contractors and be the primary source of cost estimation for facilities projects.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Cost estimates. Sub-contract bidding and management, Drywall, Paint, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscaping, Concrete Repair, Carpentry, Framing, Tile, and HVAC.
- Inspection of M&K facilities to identify electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural or other deficiencies.
- Plan for improvements and corrections in facilities engineering.
- Assign team members and duties to projects.
- Complete complex assignments on a deadline.
- Manage Sub-Contractors and their timelines.
- Inspect workers and sub-contractor’s work for quality and completion.
- Make recommendations to Facilities Manager.

The environment will change dependent upon weather conditions as this environment has exposure to indoor/outdoor loading zones. Moderate noise level is also an exposure.

Heavy lifting (50 lbs), twisting, bending, use of both hands and arms, kneeling, squatting, standing and/or walking for long periods, climbing of ladders and/or scaffolding.
Position Type Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours and shifts may vary, dependent on location and need.
The Facilities Laborer is expected to travel regularly between facilities and projects in multiple states. He/She will be expected to fly by commercial airline (occasionally), drive Medium-Duty trucks, Pick-ups, Vans, and operate machinery (Daily).
Required Education and Experience
- 10 years or more experience in construction or building maintenance.
- 2 years or more experience in blueprint reading.
- 2 years or more experience in mechanical and electrical systems oversight.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Certification in the State of Michigan as a licensed plumber, electrician and/or building inspector.
- Associates Degree or Trade Certification in blueprint reading; electrical, heating and plumbing systems; facility maintenance; budget planning; accounting; management principles and/or building codes.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
